Our Scottish Adventure Begins: Port Appin, Our Tranquil Home Base
We began our journey in Port Appin, a small, peaceful village nestled on Scotland’s west coast. With its quiet charm and stunning coastal views, Port Appin served as the perfect base for our adventures. Each evening, we returned here to rest, recharge, and reflect on the day’s discoveries.
Port Appin felt like a sanctuary - a place to disconnect from the noise of the world and fully immerse ourselves in the beauty and mystery of Scotland.

A Ferry Ride from Oban to the Quiet Solitude of the Isle of Mull
Our first full day took us to the Isle of Mull, reached by ferry from Oban. The journey itself was magical, with autumn sunlight shimmering on the water as we approached the island. Stepping off the ferry, we were struck by the island’s silence - it felt as though Mull was waiting for us, offering its rugged beauty in quiet solitude.
This stillness gave us the freedom to truly connect with the landscape, exploring at our own pace and soaking in every detail of its unspoiled charm.

Discovering the Ancient Sites of Mull: Castle Moy and the Lochbuie Standing Stones
We began our exploration on Mull’s southern coast, driving toward Carsaig through winding roads lined with fiery autumn foliage. Along the way, we spotted deer grazing peacefully in the distance, their silhouettes blending perfectly with the warm tones of the landscape.
Our first stop was Castle Moy, a haunting ruin that seemed frozen in time. From there, we continued to the Lochbuie Standing Stones, an ancient circle steeped in mystery. Standing among these stones, surrounded by autumn’s glow, we felt deeply connected to the land - and to each other.
A Scenic Drive to Tobermory: Coffee, Chocolates, and a Taste of Tobermory Whisky
After a morning immersed in Mull’s ancient history, we headed north to Tobermory, a colourful harbour town that felt like a cheerful respite. We treated ourselves to homemade chocolates and steaming coffee at Tobermory Chocolate - a sweet reward after hours of exploration.
We couldn’t resist visiting the Tobermory Distillery, where we sampled a dram of their famous whisky. The smoky warmth lingered as we wandered the harbour’s colourful streets, soaking in the charm of this lively town.
Our day ended with a seafood feast at the Tobermory Hotel, where the flavours of the coast reminded us of the island’s bounty.
The Empty Ferry and an Unexpected Farewell to Mull
As night fell, we returned to Mull’s southern coast to catch the ferry back to Port Appin. To our surprise, the ferry was completely empty - the crew greeted us as if we were the only travellers in the world, sharing a laugh as we boarded.
It was a light-hearted and unforgettable end to our time on Mull, a reminder of the island’s quiet magic and its ability to leave you feeling both refreshed and inspired

A Misty Morning at Kilchurn Castle: Reflections on Loch Awe
Back in Port Appin, we set out the next morning for Kilchurn Castle, perched on the edge of Loch Awe. We arrived to a still, misty morning, where the loch mirrored the castle and autumn’s colours in perfect symmetry.
We spent the entire morning photographing the scene, capturing its serene majesty. There was something otherworldly about the calm - the castle felt like it held its own secrets, and we felt privileged to witness them.
Glencoe: Torchlit Moments in Scotland’s Most Dramatic Landscape
Our final stop was Glencoe, a place that had been calling to us since the start of the trip. With its towering peaks and dramatic skies, Glencoe felt like the perfect setting for the Sacred Clan’s most meaningful portraits.
We dressed in outfits chosen to reflect the spirit of the landscape: Vanessa (@thesongoftheswan) wore a striking blood-red dress, while Fern (@faeriefernie), Ciara (@ciarawildisland), and Amy (@lolalulabelle) wore a mix of OFFICESEVEN, an OfWitchesAndBards corset, and OvertheSea. The colours and textures of the clothing blended beautifully with the valley’s earthy tones.
As the sun began to set, we changed into white, lit torches, and stood together on a ridge overlooking the valley. In that moment, we felt deeply connected - to the land, to each other, and to the timeless stories that Glencoe holds.
